Guided Skill Meditation: Self Containment
When feeling scattered, activated, or heightened emotions we can often become overwhelmed. Self containment uses gentle self-holding techniques to help center and create a sense of containment within ourselves.
Gentling holding our head can also cultivate a sense of physical boundaries because we are physically holding ourselves. This can cue centering and stability without our body which can then translate to what we are feeling.
Self containing, especially when holding the head, can also ‘turn on’ our Vagus nerve which helps to cue the restful part of our nervous system.
